Kentucky Bride Features Madison and Justin’s Wedding

Madison and Justin’s wedding was full of unique outdoor wedding ideas and is an example of just how beautiful Kentucky wedding photography can be. I’m so excited that Kentucky Bride Magazine decided to future this sweet couple’s special day in their Real Kentucky Weddings section. Madison and Justin’s wedding took place on a cool autumn day on a private ranch just outside of Louisville. There were so many details about this Kentucky wedding that I enjoyed. The setting was absolutely stunning with beautiful views of rolling green hills, a rustic barn that had been finished inside for comfort, horse fencing, and trees. Madison wanted the feel of a church wedding, while being outdoors, and she actually pulled it off! The ceremony location was given a unique vibe by bringing in church pews, custom made wooden doors, a metal cross, and lots of flowers. Who would have thought to take church pews outside? So cool! Madison arrived in a horse drawn carriage and then walked down the aisle bursting with joy. The ceremony was designed to celebrate the couple’s union and honor God—the creator of their marriage. They braided a strand of three chords symbolizing the unity in marriage both with each other and with God during the ceremony. I loved seeing their affection and their love for one another displayed in front of everyone. Madison looked absolutely stunning in her dress and her unique shoes with the words “I do” written on the bottom. After the ceremony, we took time to create some laid-back photos, and then it was time to head into the barn for the reception. I’m so excited for this couple as now Kentucky Bride has shared their beautiful unique day with the world.

Todd & Blair are getting married!

I recently did Todd & Blair’s engagement session the day after he popped the question. It was so much fun getting to be part of this exciting weekend! Todd proposed during a camping trip with friends in Red River Gorge and the next day they came back into the city to create some romantic and comfortable portraits in the heart of Louisville. Blair was excited and glad to show off her new ring. As we talked it was clear that they weren’t going to just wait around, but that wedding planning was already underway. Todd had scheduled the session weeks in advance, but I did not find out until that evening that they were so newly engaged. It made the session that much more enjoyable as I was able to celebrate with them. As a Louisville wedding photographer I never tire of documenting the affection of couples in love. It was great getting to spend some time with them during this exciting season of life. We took some pictures with the downtown cityscape and also spent some time exploring Cherokee Park. I love that they brought their dog along to get in a few images. They are a beautiful couple with a love that can be clearly seen.

Katie & Jacob’s Hurstbourne Country Club Wedding

Katie & Jacob’s Louisville wedding was beautiful. Their love for one another was so evident and their excitement was a joy to see. As a Louisville wedding photographer I always enjoy weddings at the Hurstbourne Country Club. It is such an elegant and sophisticated wedding venue. The ceremony took place at what they call the Ruins, between the greens on the golf course. The Ruins is a rock structure that resembles the facade of a old church building. I love how country club weddings always provide lots of opportunities to take pictures outside. We created comfortable portraits in the tree lined entrance as well as the gorgeous stone bridge and the clubhouse itself, both inside and out. The impressive staircase made for one of my favorite romantic photos of the day. Not only was the setting wonderful, but the weather was as comfortable as can be. Everything went according to plan as they exchanged vows before friends and family. Their large wedding party was playful and fun throughout the day. During the reception the guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and then were entertained by a live band that kept the dance party going all night long. The custom printed koozies made a fun gift for the guests. The evening ended with Jacob and Katie making a sparkler exit. It’s always a joy and honor to document one of the most important days in the lives of couples and I’m so glad Katie and Jacob chose to let me be a part of their day! Be sure to check out the beautiful guest book album we made with images from their engagement session.

Stephanie and Bryan’s Louisville Wedding at the Brown

Stephanie and Bryan’s Louisville Wedding at the Brown Hotel was an elegant event. There was so much attention to detail. First of all they chose two of my favorite Louisville wedding venues. The architecture of both St. John’s Church of Christ and the historic Brown Hotel are beautiful structures in which any Louisville wedding photographer is honored to work. The towering archways of both provide a sophisticated and beautiful backdrop to the celebration of a new marriage. The long center aisle of the church building provided lots of time for Stephanie’s dozen bridesmaids to walk in before everyone stood up as she began to walk in with her father. Her excitement was so evident. It was a beautiful ceremony in which they made lifelong vows to one another. The best part of the day was just spending time with this sweet and fun loving couple. They were thoroughly enjoying celebrating with their friends and I was having a great time documenting each moment. After a few portraits it was time to head to the hotel for the reception. The Crystal ballroom was decorated as elegant as could be with a variety of floral centerpieces and candles. After the cocktail hour the guest were treated to a welcome speech from the father of the bride and then a scrumptious dinner was served. After the cutting of the cake the live band from Atlanta kept the dance party going strong until it was time for their sparkler exit. I was honored to be part of Bryan and Stephanie’s wedding day and I hope these images will help them relive this day for years to come!

Julie and Bryant’s Kentucky Engagement Session

As a Kentucky portrait photographer I’m privileged to have so many beautiful places to create images with my clients. Julie and Bryant wanted to have some truly Kentucky engagement photography. Nothing says Kentucky more than horses and bourbon, so we started this quintessentially Kentucky session at the state’s oldest continuously operating bourbon distillery, Buffalo Trace. With the strong smell of bourbon in the air we found an excellent barrel room to create some romantic portraits in and several other spots throughout the grounds as well. Julie and Bryant were a joy to photograph as they were playful and affectionate throughout the whole afternoon. Next we made our way into the hearts of horse country to visit the Kentucky Horse Park just outside of Lexington KY. Julie absolutely loves horses so she enjoyed the pasture we found with three horses in the background. Then just as we were finishing up, we happened to find a field filled with around 30 horses in it. It seemed as if Julie thought she was in heaven! We quickly made our way down to the edge of the pasture that was soaking in beautiful afternoon sun light. It was such a fun session creating these romantic horse country engagement photos. I had a great time getting to know this fun loving couple. As I drove home I was struck by how much I have to be thankful for in what God has made. His creation is filled with so many beautiful sights, wonderful smells and enjoyable people.
