Kentucky Bride Futured Wedding

Kentucky Bride Magazine is currently featuring Travis and Ashley’s gorgeous Henry Clay wedding I photographed in the heart of the city.  As a Louisville wedding photographer I am honored to once again have my work published in this exclusive bridal publication. The magazine gave a four page spread to this stylish Louisville wedding. Bridal magazines are a really helpful and creative resource for brides-to-be as they plan their big day. Kentucky Bride is one of the industries finest and the most circulated in the region, so you can imagine how excited I am to once again have my work gracing its pages. This Henry Clay Wedding Reception was absolutely stunning from start to finish. I absolutely love photographing weddings at the Henry Clay Louisville KY and Travis and Ashley’s wedding was certainly no exception. The ceremony took place in the Beaux Arts room with the couple and Rabbi under the Chuppah, a Jewish marriage canopy symbolizing the new home that the couple will build together. The reception for this elegant wedding was held in the Henry Clay’s Grand Ballroom.  As the guests entered they were surrounded by lavish and opulent decor.  The variety of square, circle and rectangular tables covered in fine linens, crystal, candles and massive flower centerpieces pushed this reception quite clearly over the top. They enjoyed an excellent meal and then the party really got going when the live band took the stage. Congratulations Ashley and Travis!

Published Wedding in TOPS in Lexington Magazine

Louisville and Lexington wedding photographers all desire to have their images on the coveted pages of TOPS in Lexington Magazine. The publication is known for highlighting the best the best, the top of the stack and thus the name TOPS. The Weddings issue just hit newsstands yesterday and I am so honored to once again have this bridal publication featuring a wedding of mine. The magazine gave a full two page spread to an image of Ashley and Nathan and then four more pages of details from their gorgeous wedding. Each of the six pages include both pictures from the big day and text as the magazine chose not just to show the wedding, but to tell the story as well. It was certainly one of my favorites of the year, because not only was it an elegant and sophisticated event at one of Kentucky’s finest hotels and not just because this bride and groom are so photogenic, but because they are two of the sweetest people I have ever met. Photographing Ashley and Nathan’s day was a complete joy. I couldn’t be more excited for the two of them to get to share their celebration with the readers of the magazine. The image that spans the first two pages of the feature was taken out on the 2nd Street Bridge just after we took portraits of the whole bridal party with the cityscape as the background. But most of the celebration took place at the historic Brown hotel. It is one of those settings that is a dream to photograph in. Everywhere you look you see opulence. Before a wedding planner or decorator goes to work the Brown Hotel already looks amazing. I love all the arches and intricate detail on the walls, ceiling, pillars and railings. The architecture adds a richness to every picture but for this special occasion much more was planned. My friends Paul and Alex from Fleur De Lis Events and Design along with Alicia of Great Expectations did an amazing job, truly making Ashley’s wedding dream become a reality.
For the ceremony Ashley chose to have a beautiful ombre of flower petals running up the aisle fading from pink to white with a custom ombre aisle runner with 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13 printed on it, along with their wedding date. The couple loved “Canon in D” and “How Beautiful” by Twila Paris, and couldn’t decide between the two songs for their ceremony. A composer arranged the two seamlessly together and The Louisville Strings played it for the couple. When it came time for the big kiss, Nathan swung his bride around and dipped her down, catching her by surprise. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour featuring a Kentucky theme. Bourbon barrel cocktail tables were adorned with burlap and mint julep centerpieces accented with horseshoes and candles. Guests signed a bourbon barrel head converted into a lazy susan and enjoyed miniature Kentucky Hot Browns, the hotel’s signature dish.
Even more was in store as the guest entered the Crystal Ballroom. Ashley and Nathan’s wedding reception was as lavish as can be. The combination of flowers, crystal, candles and up-lighting was magnificent. They chose to have a variety of centerpieces around the room. Tables were covered with ivory linens, accented with a beautiful gold overlay. The tables were set with gold chargers, pink napkins, rhinestone table numbers and votives. Beautiful, oversized centerpieces were garnished with crystals to match the ballroom’s signature chandelier. Gold containers bore a lush assortment of roses, hydrangeas, orchids and calla lilies. The head table featured five glass pillars with dramatic ombre florals. The presentation was simply spectacular.

Baby Jack – Newborn Portrait Session

BabyJack-Blog_01

Just in time for Christmas baby Jack has arrived. As a Madison Indiana photographer I love doing newborn portrait sessions and this one was extra special as I had photograph baby Jack’s parents on one of the most important days of their life. Baby photography in Madison Indiana is just a small portion of what I do. Most often I am photographing brides and grooms and all of the details associated with their wedding day celebration, but every year I also spend some time doing other forms of portraiture. I photograph families and do senior portraits. I have repeatedly photographed proposals as they happen. Additionally, each year I get the opportunity to photograph the growing families of my former wedding clients. I love when couples who had me document their wedding day also invite me to document their new little ones. What an honor it is! I would love to be the family photographer for each of my clients as they step into each new stage of life. Ashley and Nathan had a beautiful wedding that was such a joy to photograph and even made the pages of a wedding magazine. Now they have been blessed with a wonderful little gift just before the holidays. As a Madison Indiana newborn photographer I was honored to create these images of five day old baby Jack. My favorite has to be this first image with Jack comfortably sleeping in his father’s arms. We also did some playful Christmas photos with Jack in a Santa suit, wrapped as a present under the tree, as a reindeer, in a sled, in a stocking and a top Santa’s bag. Baby photography in Madison Indiana is always fun and as I joyfully edited through these images I could not help but think about the birth of the little baby for which we celebrate Christmas to begin with. God Himself chose to come down and humble Himself, becoming one of us and being born as a helpless infant. Jesus Christ came and lived among us. He made himself small and then went on to live a perfect life. He never made any mistakes, He never broke any rules. He was sinless. And then after showing his great power over sickness, death and the whole universe itself, He chose to lay down His life as a substitute for many. Jesus died so that’s screw ups like you and me, sinners who have not kept God’s law, could be saved from the just punishment that we deserve. Jesus is the greatest gift that has ever been given. This Christmas season every time you see a beautiful little baby like Jack remember that God himself provided a perfect, innocence sacrifice to take our place. To find out more about why Jesus came Click Here. Congratulations Ashley and Nathan! I’m sure you’ll have a very Merry Christmas this year!

Jack will be following his father’s footsteps soon enough. I love how this picture with his daddy’s feet shows just how small he is.

Frances & Joe’s Lexington Horse Farm Engagement Session

As a Louisville and Lexington wedding photographer I love every opportunity I get to go photograph on private horse farms. The horse country surrounding Lexington is gorgeous with so many winding roads lined with old rock walls going over an endless number of hills. The tree-lined streets and seemingly unending stables make it such a joy to be a wedding photographer in Lexington, KY. Then add my favorite season of the year and it’s no wonder, that although this is my busiest couple months of shooting, I love every minute of it. In the midst of autumn, I am out shooting almost daily. Frances and Joe manage to get their Lexington Engagement Session with the fall colors at their peak vibrance and it made the session that much better. They chose to start their KY Engagement Session at Keenland race track and then finish up at the beautiful horse farm Frances manages. The massive property with 145 horses on the rolling hills with paddock upon paddock was a wonderful setting and the comfortable weather and late afternoon sunlight added to our enjoyable time.  Of course the best part was getting to photograph a couple that is truly in love. Joe and Frances are a fun pair. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and learning more about the Horse racing industry. It was also fun getting to hear about all of their wedding plans. They will be getting married in the village Adare in Limerick, Ireland in just a few weeks. Best of luck to both of you and early congratulations!

Tony & Jamie’s Seelbach Wedding

Tony & Jamie’s Wedding at the Seelbach Hilton in downtown Louisville was an elegant occasion. Every detail had been thought through to ensure this fun couples wedding was celebrated in style. First of all they chose an excellent venue. As a Louisville and Lexington wedding photographer I often get to photograph at the historic Seelbach Hotel and I never get tired of it. It helps give every image a good bit of sophistication even before you add a gorgeous woman in an elegant dress. That being said, Jamie was a truly beautiful bride and her jewelry, dress and accessories only helped to make that more evident. One of my favorite images from the day is the one of her looking over her shoulder back into the mirror right after she stepped into her wedding gown. There is such excitement in her eyes. Of course, Tony also played the part of a handsome groom quite well.  All the festivities took place in the Grand Ballroom up on the 10th floor with a beautiful view of the city and the late afternoon sunlight. The elegant room has marble wall accents, palladium windows, massive crystal chandeliers and a welcoming fireplace. It’s no surprise that it was featured in The Great Gatsby as the setting for a wedding. After the ceremony everyone headed out into the foyer for a cocktail hour while the room was transformed into on opulent reception with beautiful center pieces and an excellent meal that would rival that of many good steak houses. They invited a lively bunch and the dance floor was moving nonstop from the first moment it opened. Everyone was having hey great time. Another one of my favorite images was of guests toasting the bride and groom. I was able to capture the toast from a unique angle that allowed me to look up through the glasses. I love how it turned out. Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below.

Michael and Kirby’s Louisville Engagement Session

As a Louisville and Lexington KY wedding photographer one of the busiest times of the year for me is the fall. With the trees changing color and the comfortable weather many couples choose to have their wedding or engagement session in the midst of my favorite season. I have been out photographing several days each week for over a month and have so many beautiful photos to post. Michael and Kirby’s Louisville Engagement Session is a perfect example. It was so much fun and shows why I love our city so much. We were able to get rustic images out in the country as well as urban images in the city’s center. There is so much variety both in and around Louisville that it is realistic to create such distinctly different images all in one afternoon. The great locations were just the beginning. We had a beautiful autumn day to work with and the leaves were just starting to change. I loved the comfy blanket she brought to cuddle up together in as well as their adorable ice cream devouring dog with his custom sign. One other aspect that helped push this session over-the-top was they’re stylish good taste. I loved every outfit they chose. They looked fabulous! Above everything else what made this session truly romantic was Kirby and Michael’s love for one another. It is so evident how much they enjoy just being together.  They were so comfortable in front of the lens and easily moved from one pose to another. I had such a great time documenting their affection towards one another.
