Photographing the 2016 Madison Regatta was filled with excitement. Jimmy Shane won the race in front of the hometown crowd in U-1 HomeStreet Bank Miss Madison boat, which is owned by the citizens of Madison. As a Madison Indiana photographer and citizen of Madison, I am part owner, so I was glad to see my boat win. The two-time defending governor’s cup champion J. Michael Kelly placed second, followed by Brian Perkins. Cal Phipps flipped his H1 Unlimited Hydroplane on lap 4 of the Madison Regatta’s Indiana Governor’s Cup in Madison, IN. Phipps survived the crash with no visible injury. Although my specialty is wedding photography and portraiture high-speed action photography is too much fun to pass up, and because I am a Madison IN photographer it is such a pleasure having such a exciting race here my hometown. These Madison Regatta Photos are by David Blair.
