Louisville Bride recently interviewed me for the magazine’s Ask the Expert section. Being named a Louisville KY wedding photography expert was quite a privilege. In the article I discussed the value of engagement sessions, what couples should discuss with their photographer and much more. When asked What makes a good wedding photographer? I said, “A good wedding photographer loves their job! You want someone who gets a genuine excitement out of creating images. He or she must love people, relationships and emotion. When you’re looking back years from now you’re going to want more than just pretty pictures. You’re going to want photos that remind you how you felt on your wedding day. You will want images that tell your story in an interesting way. You need someone who has an artistic appreciation of light, symmetry, texture and patterns so that when they’re taking images of something that is simple or ordinary during your wedding they find a way to create an image that is so refreshing that you find yourself just wanting to keep looking at it. Lastly, a good wedding photographer Louisville KY helps people to feel comfortable and have a good time. If they succeed you’ll see it in the images.”
It’s an honor anytime a magazine publishes my photos of clients weddings, but having a whole interview with just me is over the top. I’ll admit it felt odd to be on the other side of a photo shoot. I’m so flattered and grateful that the magazine wanted my opinion. I hope brides to be find it helpful.
Below are more questions the magazine asked, What distinguishes your work from that of other photographers? “Clients have told me they love my use of vivid colors, interesting angles and selective focus, but more than anything else I’ve been told people love how I truly capture the emotion and vibe of their day in a truly distinctive and elegant way. Personally, I think that what distinguishes my work is that it’s taken from the perspective of a man who truly appreciates all of God’s creation and cannot help but thank Him for what he sees through his lens.”What are your favorite moments to capture? “Moments with sincere emotion are my absolute favorite. Tender gazes, explosions of laughter, heartfelt tears and the facial expressions during embarrassing surprises are a few of my favorites.”
