Holly and Michael’s Louisville Wedding

Take me out to the ballpark… and let’s get married! Holly and Michael’s wedding reception at Louisville Slugger Field followed their ceremony at the beautiful Christ Church on the east end of town.  As a Louisville wedding photographer I go to a lot of sophisticated and elegant weddings which I thoroughly enjoy, but it’s also fun when I get to photograph celebrations that are much more casual and playful.  This sweet couple wanted some of both worlds so they chose to have both an elegant big church wedding followed by a playful reception at the ballpark. They had a fun wedding day with lots of unique details. For transportation between the ceremony and reception the bridal party took an old-time trolley. Holly and Michael each enjoy baseball and thoroughly enjoyed getting to take the wedding party out onto the field.  At one point Michael even ran into home plate and cheered for himself.  In honor of the location they opted to even have foot long hot dogs as an option on the buffet line. They also incorporated a fun tradition from Louisiana where the couple holding parasols leads all the guests in a parade of sorts throughout the room.  Each of the guests waved their napkin over their head while lively music was played. In addition they had lots of unique items throughout the room.  For example they had a small box filled with pennies and a board that read “A penny for your thoughts” encouraging guests to write a message to the couple in exchange for one cent.  For good luck they had a basket of horseshoes to be given out to the guests and rather than a guestbook they chose to have guests sign a large frame surrounding the state of Kentucky that they plan to hang in their home. It was a really fun day and I hope you enjoy these images of it.
