NFocus Magazine Features Jamie and Danny’s Wedding

I’m just thrilled to share that Jamie and Danny’s Louisville wedding was just published in NFocus Magazine. Wow, what a fun wedding it was!  Jamie and Danny were married at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church and their fashionable reception took place at Whitehall.  Lauren Chitwood did an amazing job keeping everything organized and on track, but also is responsible for making everything look so good.  She seems to do it all… from the floral design and place settings to finding just the right chandeliers and getaway car.  If you are wanting a truly fabulous wedding then Lauren can be a really big help.  Whitehall is one of Louisville’s most gorgeous venues and is truly a photographer’s dream.  Jamie chose simple and elegant accents for her day and gave me a lot to work with.  Check out the bourbon bar.  I also loved the live band and sparklers for the getaway.  Congratulations Jamie and Danny and thanks for letting me be a part of your big day!  Below are a bunch of other images from the day, because of course as a photographer, I think magazines never have enough pictures.  I hope you enjoy them.

Featured Wedding in the South African Lééf Magazine

Yesterday a new issue of a magazine hit newsstands on the other side of the world.  Normally I would not have noticed, but this particular issue holds an interesting significance for me.  I’m incredibly honored and excited to announce my first international publication. Lééf – met hart & siel, a South African magazine, is currently featuring Mariette and Benjamin’s destination wedding which I had the pleasure of photographing in a small French villa out in the countryside, just south of Paris last summer. The feature is a six page spread that includes images from both their engagement session and wedding.  I wish I could tell you more about the article, but I haven’t the slightest idea what it says considering it is not in English, but Afrikaans.:)

Mariette and Benjamin chose to have their wedding at the family vacation home.  It was truly an international wedding with guests from four continents.  Of course this was expected considering that Mariette is South African and Benjamin’s father is American while his mother is French. I absolutely loved how they made unique decorations and incorporated flowers from both countries.  As if the stone house was not rustic enough they decided to simply hang a chair on the wall.  Many of the flowers scattered all about were actually wildflowers gathered the morning of the wedding from the surrounding countryside.  Inside hanging from the ceiling were origami birds and branches strung with lights.  The ceremony was in three languages. At various points  I heard English, French, and Afrikaans. The whole wedding had an interesting European feel to it that is hard to describe. I’m not sure if it was the French hospitality, attire, musical choices, languages or just all of that put together, but it was wonderful.  I was honored to be a part and even more so now to have my images from the celebration published abroad. It has all been such an amazing experience.

Benjamin and Mariette’s Destination Wedding continues to receive international attention as it has now also been featured on FrenchWeddingStyle.com as well as a Paris based Real French Wedding Blog and on the Natural Wedding Blog from the United Kingdom. Below are some more images from the wedding.

Ali and Justin’s Wedding – Seelbach & St. Louis Bertrand

undefined

On a crisp winter day at the end of last year Ali and Justin celebrated their marriage with a stylish wedding. The ceremony took place at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church and then the party headed downtown to the the Seelbach Hotel for the reception. Ali’s excellent taste was evident throughout the entire day. She looked stunning in her dress and her jewelry accented the outfit with sophistication.  The flowers were certainly a tall order, but In Bloom Again certainly delivered. (Excuse my pun) Also, Kristina Haysley of the Seelbach did an amazing job of making the Medallion Ballroom look even more elegant than normal.  I had so much to work with and was glad to be a part of this fabulous Louisville wedding.  Congratulations Ali and Justin!

Adrienne & Ryan’s Featured Wedding in Louisville Bride

I am excited to announce that Adrienne & Ryan’s fabulous rooftop wedding was just published in Louisville Bride Magazine. The wedding took place downtown on the rooftop of the city’s newest wedding venue: The Ice House.  The modern and industrial building boasts an urban chic atmosphere- with a touch of elegance and sophistication with lots of both outdoor and indoor space. I already knew several members of the bridal party and guests who have been former clients or are future ones, so I felt quite comfortable and welcomed throughout the whole day.  They were a playful bunch which made for lots of fun images.  Adrienne just looked stunning in her dress!!!  Her vibrant green wedding was as lively as it gets.  Adrienne also incorporated lots of unique details into the day, like the sign that said “Here comes the Bride”  on one side and “Just married” on the back. I guess it was only fitting to have an ice sculpture in a venue called the Ice House. Her shoes were rocking and the glow sticks for the exit was extra fun.

Adrienne said “We wanted to enjoy a carefree, blissful day, focused on our love, guests, & the joyful occasion.  We decided it would be the party of the century, as in the best night you have ever had with your friends.  Everyone together with a drink in their hand, knowing the words to every song that was played & showing off your dance moves.”

The other incredible wedding vendors whom made this day possible included:  floral design by Country Squire, cake by Brittany Thrush,  ice sculpture by Arctic Diamond,  hair by Wild Strawberry Salon, makeup by Glitzy Glamour Salon, catering by Crushed Ice Events and  Angel’s Envy Bourbon tasting by Louisville Distilling Co.

Featured Wedding in NFocus Magazine

I’m incredibly honored to share that Kristin & Nathan’s Louisville wedding that took place on the downtown rooftop of the Frazier Museum was just published in NFocus Magazine. The featured wedding is sweet closure to an amazing experience. However, I know as always this feature belongs not just to me, but to those who shared in this day. I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did without the almost endless effort of others. For this, I’m indebted.

Ellen Fox of did an excellent job despite the storm that poured so much rain down that they considered moving the ceremony indoors at the last minute. We were all thankful a break in the storm came just at the time the ceremony was planned.  As the guests were taking their seats it was dark, windy and sprinkling, but as the first bridesmaid began to walk down the aisle the sun broke through the clouds allowing everything to go as planned…  well almost everything.

Kristin said, “If you don’t have the valleys in life, you can’t appreciate the peaks.” With Nathan by her side, Kristin endured the many trials of planing the wedding, along with the unexpected strain of family tragedy just months before the wedding. Through the stress, greater bonds were formed between Nathan and Kristin’s family. “I couldn’t imagine someone could make you feel better and feel okay in the middle of all of this.” Kristin said, explaining her husband’s great support. Nathan reupholstered chairs, hung decorations, glued streamers, and stamped invitations—all to support his bride-to-be.

The ring, much like their relationship, is unique. Nathan decided to go with a canary diamond, remembering how it lit up Kristin’s face on a Caribbean cruise in years past. Inscribed on the rings is the couple’s favorite song, “Only You Can Love Me This Way.” With a fairy tale dress, a fairytale ring, a princess and a prince charming, the wedding ended with a night full of dancing. At the end of the night, Kristin and Nathan stepped into a white horse-drawn carriage, which galloped off into the night.

Here are some other images from the day.

As I alluded to before, almost everything went according to plan, but it certainly was windy throughout the whole ceremony. At one point Kristin’s long veil went right into Nathan’s face and then ripped off her head flying into the air. But as you can see in the photos below, Kristin was able to quickly reach up and snatch it before it flew off the rooftop.

Nico and Stephanie’s Louisville Wedding

undefined
Nico, Stephanie and I have been members of the same church for the last few years, so it was with extra pleasure that I photographed their wedding celebration. It is always a pure joy to praise God with other Christians and their ceremony offered just such an opportunity. Their goal is to honor God in their marriage, so it was only fitting that their wedding ceremony had the same purpose with songs of worship and the word of God boldly proclaimed. The lively bunch danced their hearts out until the couple left through a hallway of sparklers.
