Alexis & Matthew are one of those rare couples that fell in love in high school and never looked back. Natives of Louisville Kentucky, the high school sweethearts were drawn together by a passion for adventure. Their engagement took place at the Red River Gorge, during a camping trip. Matt sold the adventure to Alexis as an opportunity to relax and unwind, but she was surprised at the idea. Still, he seemed enthusiastic, so she agreed to go. They enjoyed a leisurely drive through the winding roads. When they reach the perfect spot Matt pulled over to take some pictures of the landscape. Cut up in photography, Alexis was only half listening as Matt spoke of how he wanted to spend his whole life with her. She responded with a casual, “I love you too, and yes, that sounds good.” It was only when he got down on one knee that she realize what was happening. When he asked her to marry him, she said, “Of course, yes!”
They were married on October 4, 2014 at the Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville KY. The couple chose the location because of the historic beauty of the grounds and the majestic, outdoor altar that served as the backdrop for their ceremony. The bride’s favorite color is purple, so the bridesmaids were dark purple and the groomsmen, charcoal gray tuxes. With the vibrant colors of the fall complementing the scene, the location served as a natural setting for the happy couple. Many thanks to all the other vendors that helped make this day as lovely as I was, the Bridal Suite of Louisville, The Men’s Warehouse, Sweet Surrender and Lloyd’s Florist. In addition to the photos published in Tops in Lex Magazine below are some other images from the day.
