Lisa and Patrick’s Engagement Session

For Lisa and Patrick’s engagement session we made use of one of Louisville’s most beautiful and lush spots, Cherokee Park.  Next we headed downtown to get some more urban images. Their wedding is just a few weeks away so there was an added sense of excitement and anticipation during their session.  One of the main reasons for doing engagement sessions is that it lets the couple and I get acquainted.  It is kind of a low-key warm-up to the wedding day.  Spending an afternoon together and going to a couple locations helps each couple become more comfortable in front of the lens and realize they can simply relax and enjoy being with one another while I work. We even had a nice dinner together at the restaurant where they are planning to have their rehearsal dinner. The bottom line is spending time together for an engagement session makes for better wedding photos.  It was fun getting to know Lisa and Patrick and I am certainly looking forward to their big day.  They have chosen to have their ceremony at St. John’s Church of Christ which is one of my favorite church buildings to photograph in. It’s grand architecture with high ceilings, pillars, arches, stained glass and candle lined pews make it a beautiful setting to exchange vows. Then the plan is to head downtown to their reception in the Starks building atrium just off from 4th St. Live. The Starks building is a unique Louisville reception venue with 15 stories of offices built in a rectangle around a massive open space covered with a roof, meaning their reception will have a towering high ceiling of about 1500 feet.  I am excited to document their day and to share it with you all, but for now please just enjoy these engagement images.
