Part of what makes my job as a Louisville Kentucky wedding photographers so much fun is when couples get creative in designing the look of their wedding reception. Here are just a few of Cory and Kristin’s lounge like wedding reception and formal church ceremony. They started with a traditional ceremony but then moved into a laid-back and relaxed reception. I loved the lounge feel they created with the use of couches and coffee tables at the reception. The combination of lots of candles and up lighting around the walls combined to give this reception both an elegant and club like setting. The customized monogram shone against the wall which had unique draped fabric made the space truly theirs. When couples go to this type of effort it makes for spectacular Louisville Kentucky wedding photographers.
There are so many other excellent options available to make your wedding reception unique and different! The questions use to be will you use round or rectangular tables and what color will the linen be, but now for many couples the questions have become what type of table are the guests sitting at and does it even have a linen, is the top transparent, are there chairs or is it a sofa? From seating your guests at banquettes for dinner to specialty chairs for the bride and groom at the Sweetheart or Head Table or adding couches to the dancing portion of the reception, I have seen lounge furniture make its way into wedding receptions and everyone is loving it! The idea of coming up with unique seating ideas or simply doing something unique in a popular setting can be a bit daunting at first, so here are a few great ideas for giving your wedding reception a lounge vibe!
Ask yourself what furniture items make you feel comfortable and then find a way to add a bunch of them into your reception. Cory and Kristin chose dark leather couches with small coffee tables covered in candles and flowers. Some other ways to incorporate lounge furniture into a wedding reception other then couches include utilizing ottomans as often as possible and accent pillows. Ottomans are typically available in various shapes, size, and style and are quite versatile. You can use them for seating, footrest or as small tables. Additionally, ottomans are a much more cost effective rental item compared to sofas and loveseats. Customized accent pillows are a simple way to personalize a lounge grouping. You can select your wedding colors, or even request to have your monogram or wedding date embroidered onto pillows. Food and beverage displays are a popular way to add a relax lounge feel to your reception. I have seen Bourbon bars made from actual bourbon barrels, as well as espresso bars with baristas and candy buffets that match your wedding colors. I’ve seen make your own cupcake stations and whole dessert tables with fruit pies, ice cream, brownies and even root beer floats. The options are endless, just be creative! I would love to talk with you about what you have planned and how we can create wedding images that will preserve these memories for years to come.
