Brandon and Ellen had their wedding in the gorgeous secluded courtyard of a historic home in downtown Frankfort. Ellen looked truly beautiful against the lush green forest. The ushers were other firefighters from the fire station were Brandon volunteers. They had their reception at a near by church. Ellen loves pickles, so she decided to personally can pickles for wedding favors. Here is her story in her own words.
“Love is patient, love is kind…” 1 Corinthians 13:4. Patience is something that my husband and I had to conquer to be together. We first met when I was in eighth grade and he was a senior in high school. We met at Bagdad Baptist Church (a small church in Shelby County, Kentucky). We were very good friends until one day that friendship grew into something more. It wasn’t until I was a senior in high school that we turned our relationship into something more than friends. After graduating from high school I began my freshman year of college at Western Kentucky University. This is when we both had to learn to be patient. I was living in Bowling Green during the week and he was living back home working as a Paramedic. After a semester at Western I decided to transfer to the University of Kentucky where I finished by degree and of course be closer to him and my family. Living in two different cities during the week was hard but it only made our relationship stronger. It was November of my junior year in college when we took our relationship to the next level- engagement.
Planning a wedding was stressful yet fun in so many ways. The vision that I had for my wedding was simple yet a day that no one would forget. We planned to wed in the Gardens of the Orlando Brown House in downtown Frankfort, Kentucky. Since it was an outside wedding I prayed for no rain. Our reception was held at the Good Shepherd Perish Center. We used a local caterer, All the Way Shoppe in Bagdad, Kentucky. They prepared a pasta bar and also our wedding cake. I wanted to keep my flowers simple. We used hydrangeas and Gerber daises. Looking for a wedding photographers in Louisville KY was difficult, but we found a great one. We had a wonderful Kentucky wedding photographer, David Blair, who captured all the important parts of the event.
It was a fun filled day, which we shared with the people who we loved the most. People said that I was the calmest bride that they had ever seen. That was true, I was calm. It was a day that I wanted to cherish and remember forever.”
